Server artifacts

Also called FXServer build, server build

The versioned FXServer binaries a FiveM server runs on, published by Cfx.re as numbered builds.

Artifacts are the server binaries themselves. Cfx.re publishes numbered builds continuously, split into a recommended line and a latest line, and a server pins one of them.

Running too old a build eventually breaks: new client versions stop connecting, and newer resources use natives that old servers do not have. Running the newest build the day it lands is the other failure mode, because regressions do happen and your players find them first.

The sensible policy is to track the recommended build, read the changelog before moving, and keep the previous artifact directory so a rollback is a restart rather than a rebuild. Artifacts also interact with the enforced game build, which decides which DLC content — vehicles, weapons, map areas — is available at all.

A surprising number of "my server crashes on connect" reports are a game-build mismatch between a streamed asset and the enforced build.
