What are FiveM fake players and do they help?
Fake players inflate the player count shown on your listing without those players existing in-game. They change the social-proof signal a browser sees, not your list position, which is set by upvotePower. Used carelessly they backfire — a player who joins a 'busy' server and finds it empty does not come back.
What they are
A fake-player service makes your server report a higher clients figure to the server list than the number of people actually connected. Browsers see a fuller server; the game itself is unchanged.
What they do
They act on conversion. When someone scans the list, capacity is read as a liveliness signal, and a server showing 60/64 gets clicked far more often than one showing 6/64. That effect is real and immediate.
What they do not do
They do not move you up the list. Ordering is decided by upvotePower and nothing else. Inflating player count on a server nobody can find changes nothing, because nobody is looking at the card in the first place.
This is the single most common misunderstanding about the product, and it leads people to buy the wrong thing.
The obvious failure mode
A player sees 60/64, joins expecting a populated server, and finds six people. That is a worse outcome than never having been clicked, because you have now spent the one impression you had and confirmed the server is not what it claimed.
Inflation only makes sense as a bridge across a gap you are genuinely closing — a server at forty players that regularly hits sixty on weekends, smoothing the quiet hours. As a permanent substitute for a population, it burns the traffic you paid to attract.
Sensible use
- Modest inflation, not implausible. Twenty over your real peak is a rounding error; four hundred over it is a story everyone can read.
- Alongside real visibility work, never instead of it.
- Sized to a population you are actually building toward.
The order of operations
Visibility first, because without it nothing else is seen. Conversion second, which is where capacity signals live. Retention throughout, because it decides whether any of the spend compounds or evaporates.
