How do I write a good FiveM server description?

Answer, in the first two lines, what kind of roleplay you run, who it is for and what makes it different. Skip the rule list, skip the feature dump, and be specific enough that the wrong player self-selects out — that is a feature, not a loss.

What a description is for

It is not a manual and it is not a rulebook. It has one job: help a player decide, in about ten seconds, whether this server is for them. A player who correctly decides it is not is a good outcome — they would have left after twenty minutes anyway, and they would have taken a staff member's time with them.

The first two lines

Everything important goes here, because most readers stop after them:

  • What kind of server. Serious RP, casual, economy-heavy, gang-focused, racing, freeroam.
  • Who it is for. New players welcome, or experienced roleplayers only? Whitelisted or open?
  • What is different. One specific thing. Not "custom scripts" — every server says that and it means nothing.

Specific beats impressive

Compare:

Custom scripts, active staff, great economy, friendly community, join now!

with:

Whitelisted serious RP with a closed economy — no starter cash, every business player-run. Applications open Fridays.

The second is shorter and tells you vastly more. It also filters, which the first does not.

What to leave out

  • The full rule list. Nobody reads rules before joining. Put them in Discord.
  • Feature inventories. A list of twenty script names reads as noise.
  • Superlatives. "Best", "#1", "the most realistic" — everyone claims them, so they carry no information.
  • Staff recruitment. Not what the reader is here for.

Where it shows up

Your description feeds the server card, tracker pages like the ones on this site, and search results. It is one of the few pieces of text about your server that you fully control and that travels beyond your own channels.

Refresh it

Descriptions rot. A server that changed direction six months ago and still advertises its old format converts the wrong players. Re-read yours whenever your server changes meaningfully.
