How should I name my FiveM server?
Put the real name in the first forty characters, follow it with mode and region, and stop. Emoji walls and chained claims get truncated in the browser and stripped by every tracker and search engine, so the decoration costs you the only text anyone actually reads.
The forty-character reality
Server hostnames are displayed in a fixed-width card. Whatever does not fit is cut. Look at almost any FiveM list and you will see entries where the truncation landed mid-decoration, so the visible text is a bracket, two emoji and half a word.
Those servers paid for a listing slot and then wasted it.
A structure that works

Name first, because it is what people search for and what they tell their friends. Mode second, because it is the main filter in a player's head. Region third, because ping matters. Anything beyond that is optional and most of it is not worth the space.
What the decoration actually costs
- Truncation. Emoji and separators consume the visible budget before your name gets there.
- Search. Trackers and search engines strip non-text characters. A name that is mostly symbols normalises down to very little, which is why some servers are effectively unsearchable.
- Word of mouth. A player cannot recommend a server they cannot pronounce or type.
Claims belong elsewhere
"Active PD", "custom scripts", "player-owned businesses", "18+" — all reasonable things to say, none of them things to chain onto a hostname. They belong in the server description, the tags, and the Discord. In the name they are noise competing with the one piece of information that has to survive.
A quick test
Write your hostname down, cut it to forty characters, and show it to somebody who has never seen your server. If they cannot tell you what it is called, the name is not doing its job.
Renaming
You keep your upvotePower through a rename — it is bound to the Cfx.re identity, not the hostname. There is no ranking penalty for fixing a bad name, which makes it one of the few genuinely free improvements available.
