Burst
Also called burst power
A short-lived boost applied to a server's list position, separate from its accumulated upvote power.
Alongside the long-run upvote power score, the server list carries a short-term component often called burst. It reflects very recent activity rather than accumulated history, and it fades quickly.
The effect is that a server can appear higher than its long-run score alone would place it, immediately after a surge of attention — a launch, an event, a streamer visit. That is useful, and it is also why launch-day numbers mislead. A server that looks like a page-one server during its launch window can settle several pages lower a fortnight later with nothing having gone wrong.
For planning, treat burst as a reason to time content around visibility rather than as something to buy. The sustainable position comes from the slower score. If you are judging whether a campaign worked, measure a week after it finishes, not during it.
