sv_hostname
Also called server name, hostname
The server name shown in the FiveM list — the single most-read piece of text your server owns.
sv_hostname is the line players read first. It supports colour codes and emoji, and the near-universal instinct is to fill it with both.
That instinct costs clicks. A name padded with decoration, separators and five claims is harder to scan than a short one, and it truncates unpredictably at narrow widths — frequently cutting off exactly the words that distinguish you. Our own tooling has to strip that decoration before we can use server names in copy at all, which is a reasonable signal of how much of it carries no information.
A name that works usually contains the community name and one differentiator: the framework, the theme, the region, or the thing you actually do differently. Everything else belongs in sv_projectDesc, which has room for it.
Consistency matters as much as content. Players who saw you yesterday search for the name they remember; a hostname that changes weekly erases that recall and takes your search traffic with it.
