Player retention
The share of new players who come back — the number that decides whether visibility turns into a community.
Retention is what happens after the click. Visibility on the server list buys you a first connection; retention decides whether that becomes a regular.
The first session is where it is won or lost. A long asset download, a spawn with no direction, a job system with no tutorial, and an empty city at the hour they joined all produce the same outcome: a disconnect inside five minutes. None of those are visibility problems, and no amount of promotion fixes them.
The measurable version: track day-1, day-7 and day-30 return rates rather than peak concurrent players. A server with 60 peak players and 40% day-7 retention is healthier and growing faster than one with 150 peak and 8%.
This is also the honest caveat on any promotion service, ours included. Buying upvotes moves your position; it does not make the first session good. If retention is broken, more traffic simply means more people discovering that.
